George Town
Firstly, a wise start of journey was to get a map...

On the way to the heritages, there were many antiques that took my breath away. Especially the trishaw and the rusty bicycle. The drizzle in the morning made George Town to be more nostalgic than it was.
-Trishaw-
There were few recommended highlights to experience in Georgetown. Our 1st visited heritage- Khoo Kongsi. Khoo Kongsi amazed me with its gorgeous golden cravings on the wall and the ornaments around the clanhouse. I couldn’t believe that without any cutting-edge technology, the ancestors were able to create such magnificent things.
-The clan house complex was pretty impressive-
-The golden carvings on the poles-
-The Memorial boards of the Khoo ancestors-
-Antique chairs-
-This was the tiger carving which symbolises the past of everything and another pheonix symbolises the future. Unfortunately, we cant find the phoenix carving-
- This imitation refreshed my mind back to the past-
-Guess who???-
Khoo Family was rich and the most influential people in the 18century. Their clanhouse was once conflagrated and people believed that God had arranged this incident to punish the Khoo family for wasting the money to build this luxurious clanhouse. The current clanhouse that we saw was a rebuilt after the conflagration. We found out about the history of Khoo kongsi at the small museum beside the clanhouse. The musuem was built intricately which made me think of the past wealth of Khoo kongsi.

The nearest heritage from Khoo Kongsi was Lebuh Acheh Mosque. This was the 1st time I entered a mosque as I heard people said non-Muslims were strictly forbidden to step into mosques. Excited, I visited the mosque and took some pictures.

-Front elevation of Lebuh Acheh Mosque-

-Discovered the inner spaces of the mosque-

-I think this was the attraction of Lebuh Acheh Mosque as the octet minaret was tall which can be seen from far. The attractive feature of this minaret includes the compass at the top which has the mixture of western style design-
Speaking of Indian culture, it will definitely link our mind to an Indian Temple. Mahamariamman Temple, I felt that the Indian carvings and statues covering the whole temple that made me admired their PATIENCE and ENTHUSIASM!!!
Mahamariamman Temple was located at Queen Street. This temple was regarded as the oldest temple in Penang. Mahamariamman temple has been renovated many times to persevere the antiquity of the Hindu Indian Temple.
Unique cultural architecture, friendly residents, nice food =) . That was all i found at Georgetown. We were happy that we were able to finish the assignment before the holiday as mid-sem break was around the corner.
The assignment included powerpoint presentation and sketches on an a2 illutration board
