Another day in studio. Today we were briefed by Dr.Syarmila with the topic entitled Light Up Our Life. We were taught some techniques called

Accretion and Subtraction.

MATERIALs:

- Mounting Board

- White Glue

- Super Glue

- Plastic Transparency

- Tracing Paper

- Bulb, battery and wire

- Craft knife, scissors

- Metal ruler

- Invisible tape

INTENTION: To make a cube that gives the feeling of being in the realm of wonderland.

ACT: The accretion and subtraction with leaf and butterfly patterns.

ACTOR: Xinyee (Me)

RULE: The cube must satisfy the topic of Accretion and Subtraction.

PRODUCT: The Wonderful Cube.

STEPS:

  1. Divide the mounting boards into 5 pieces of square which is more than 250mmX250mm. Measure and draw each of the board with a square of border 250mmx250mm. Within the border, cut out the desired pattern with a craft knife (Subtraction) and fold every side of the square.
  2. Followed by dividing mounting boards into 12 stripes and bend it.
  3. Paste the pattern that being cut out on the plastic transparency (Accretion) with white glue.
  4. Stick the folded part of the boards in step 1 and form a cube. Connect the light bulb to the circuit and stick it in the mounting board.
  5. Make a black box and place the battery into it.                                                                                                                                                                                                        -The connector is hidden inside the box which will then connect to the battery-
  6. Finally, join the two cuboidal boxes together with super glue.
On the submission day, we placed our masterpieces at the foyer of HBP. All the works were arranged neatly.
